I have chosen to do Pinterest boards as my Independent Learning Project #2. Pinterest is one of my favorite websites to work with for my personal life, so I thought it would be fun to search for Educational Technology posts that I could also possibly use in the future. I will be hopefully teaching Kindergarten, so these boards are based on a Kindergarten classroom with posts for technology, lesson plans, holiday activities, and ways to help me as a teacher become more current with new technology. I will continue to post new "pins" as I see ones that seem beneficial. Pinterest is great for decorating ideas, but I have now realized how beneficial it is for teachers to use for websites that have helped other teachers or parents from their past students. Each of the five albums have different technology websites that could be beneficial to that specific topic.

Pinterest is such unique and creative tool to help with professional development. Not only is it fun and easy to use, but there is a ton of useful information on it in reference to lesson plans, classroom decorations, educational games and apps, teaching and awesome quotes from other teachers and colleagues. Do you think Pinterest will benefit you in the future? Do you think that it could also be useful for students as well as the teachers? What things did you learn through your Pinterest that would help you in the classroom?
ReplyDeleteI think Pinterest can be beneficial to not only myself as a teacher but also to my potential coworker teachers. It is great for so many ways that could potentially make us become better teachers. Since I plan on teaching Kindergarten, I do not think this would be useful for my students to use as an app at home. I would highly recommend more child friendly apps for parents to use with their students for help on particular lessons. After creating this ILP, I realized not only how helpful Pinterest can be for me, but also how many websites it has introduced me to just for searching around for a little bit. I feel as though when I actually become a teacher it will be more beneficial because I will have specific topics to research, rather than me using more broad terms. Also, Pinterest has shown me new interactive ways to keep learning fun for young children, such as SmartBoard games or holiday activities relating to math and reading.
