"The Flipped Classroom" is "an innovative blended delivery model that currently has a following in K-12 and postsecondary education." This model is used for students to come prepared to class with the information given to them from pre-lecture videos. This type of model helps students not fall behind on topics, but rather get them ahead, so teachers can analyze the topic in more depth during class time. An example of educational videos is: Khan Academy.
The podcast for this week talks about "open" education, "open" content, and "open" source. There is so much information and so many materials for teachers to use from the internet that are "open" and readily available. Teachers just must be aware of the material that they are taking because of the copyright information placed on the material from the original owner. I do not know if this is a website for "open" resources, but I have had one teacher use this in the past: LearnZillion. The teacher first must create an account and then the students are able to join. They have different activities and lectures for a multitude of information and different subjects that other teachers have produced.
Paragraph 3:
There were many skills that I gained through the PowerPoint for Information Dissemination assignment. I never fully realized how much PowerPoint can do until this assignment. I learned about taking out the background of pictures, how to make audio clips for each slide, how to change the Master slide, and how to add the same picture to every slide in my PowerPoint. I liked this assignment because I was constantly learning new skills through the Internet's help. It was also a trial-and-error assignment, in which I was having a lot of trouble with not adding too much information on each slide. On the other hand, I did not like how difficult it was to make sure all of the animations came in, while being synched to the audio voice over. I can definitely improve the audio voice over for next time and add a small game for students to interact more. PowerPoints will be used in my classroom for history and science lessons to grab my students' attention and still make it interactive.
Taking out the background of photos is a really cool feature! It proved very useful for our PowerPoint game we did together.
