Paragraph 1:
Since I will be teaching elementary, specifically kindergarten or 1st grade, Data Collection tools are not as essential as if I were a high school teacher. Although I will be an elementary teacher, I will use Data collection tools for keeping track of grades on mathematic, science, and reading tests, along with other miscellaneous assignments that will be given throughout the year. I will use these tools to determine my students' progress in these subject areas throughout the year and see which areas the majority of my students are struggling with, so I have the opportunity to review that area again.
Paragraph 2:
After reviewing my classmates' blogs, I have gained more information and ways to look at certain topics for education. I haven't had one particular favorite blog each week, but rather different bloggers have entertained me and informed me on different things. One particular topic that I found most interesting was seeing the different projects that we have worked on throughout the semester, specifically the PowerPoint and the Weebly. I loved seeing how people used such different designs and what they found difficult while trying to complete this task.
Paragraph 3:
The next technology-related skill I would like to learn is more about the SmartBoard. Although we saw a little bit while visiting the Tech Sandbox, I would like to go visit again and go into more detail about what exactly this could provide me for my future classroom. While mentoring at a local elementary school, I have gained some skills just watching the teacher use it for her kindergarten class with mathematic games. The teacher has expressed how helpful the SmartBoard can be for student learning, but it is only helpful since she knows how to use it.
Oh you'd be surprised how much data you will collect on your kinder students. Usually, you will be doing several one-on-one tests throughout the year. That's right, you will sit with every individual child and test their speaking and reading skills several times throughout the year. Excel can be invaluable in tracking their progress.
